louise_gilyardlgThe Louise Gilyard  Williams Scholarship was founded in loving memory of the aunt of Pastor Anthony W. Gilyard who served as a great source of inspiration and encouragement in his life.  She consistently encouraged him to become all that God had ordained him to be.  Her ability to sow into his life, prompted him to invest into the lives of other young people by assisting them in pursuing higher education. The first Scholarship luncheon was held on Saturday, September 29, 2001 at the Embassy Suites located in Tampa, Florida. It was held in conjunction with Pastor Gilyards former annual Y.E.S Conference.   The guest speaker was Ms. Valerie Lowe, Associate Editor of Charisma magazine.  Ms. Lowe delivered an impactful message regarding the Purpose of Life and the Power to accomplish.  This  first event served as a fundraiser to aid in awarding a scholarship for the upcoming year.

The second event was held on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at the Hilton Gateway Hotel located in Newark, NJ, and was once again held in conjunction with the former YES Conference.  Orchestrating this event was a challenge, however, victory prevailed and a $500.00 scholarship was awarded to Mr. Garrett Johnson of Tampa, FL.  What a joy to see how God has blessed this young man!   He is currently a Senior at Florida State University and is a 2006 Rhodes Scholar, 2006 NCAA Indoor Shot Put National Champion, Two-Time All American (2005 & 2006 Indoor Shot Put), 2005 ESPN Academic All American (second team),  Two-Time NCAA East Region Champion, and Six-Time All-ACC.  For more information or to see a photo of Garrett Johnson please log on to:  http://seminoles.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/johnson_garrett00.html

Upon accepting the Pastoral call, the responsibility of continuing the scholarship was given to the “new” Young Enthusiastic Saints of BJCF under the direction of Bro. Wil Riley.  Since that time, we have been able to award the following youth of BJCF with scholarships: Mr. Antoine Bennett, Miss Ashley Mays, Miss Jessica Aiken, Miss Chanee Davis, Mr. Demetrius Kee, and Miss Arielle Wright.

Our future endeavors include assisting adults who desire to continue their education, sending care packages to campus bound students, providing assistance with purchasing books and supplies, and much more!  However,  your continued support will be needed in order for us to reach our goals.

Donations to this fund are accepted throughout the year, and are needed and appreciated.  Donations can be made from this website, but selecting the donations button or by sending a check or money order payable to BJCF.  Tokens of love may be mailed to: BJCF, 83 Galloping Hill Road,Elizabeth, NJ Attn: Scholarship Committee.

We thank you for supporting us through your prayers, donations, and love gifts.  We are expecting continued growth in this area of ministry.
